Proxfrito

archive of technical warnings successfully ignored

I warned you.

A public record of the lines everyone has said out loud at some point, usually standing up, near a desk with cold coffee. Names, dates, and numbers are made up; the structure isn’t.

  1. 2026-01-08

“don’t ship that on a Friday”

shipped it on Friday. reverted on Saturday, at 3:04 a.m., with a neighbor’s laptop.

  2. 2026-01-19

“the backup is running, you can relax”

it had been running for 47 days without producing a single file. discovered the day it was actually needed.

  3. 2026-02-02

“that index won’t get used, it’s a small table”

the table grew 400% in three weeks, and now the one not being used is the on-call team.

  4. 2026-02-14

“it’s just an environment variable, it doesn’t need a secret”

it became three environments, four repositories, and an incident call with legal.

  5. 2026-03-03

“let me set up the DNS, it’s quick”

it was quick: two minutes to configure, six hours to understand what got configured.

  6. 2026-03-21

“the staging environment is the same as production”

it was the same in everything except the version, the data volume, the network, and the purpose.

  7. 2026-04-07

“nobody uses that screen, you can turn it off”

they used it. three times a month, always at month-end close, always by someone very polite.

  8. 2026-04-29

“we’ll fix that later with a refactor”

it became a historic landmark. today it has a plaque, a guided tour, and nobody signs off on touching it.
