Written here so we don’t forget and so you can hold us to it. Polite pressure works; a deadline, we don’t have.
The unit "loaf" exists because nobody outside technology understands "engineering days", and everyone understands bread. The tool would count the objective signals that already exist in the repository — disabled lint rules, falling test coverage, dependencies more than a year out of date, files over a thousand lines — and convert the total into loaves.
The real value of the idea is the conversation it forces: technical debt only becomes a priority when someone finds a unit the board will agree to hear.
Status: idea. What interests me most is the historical chart, not the number.
